Who Is Pastor Monica?
Pastor Monica L. Moore invited Christ into her life at the age of fifteen and five years later answered her call to the ministry of Jesus, the Christ. Since that time, Pastor Monica’s passion and enthusiasm for ministry has been demonstrated through her diverse gift of music, artistic innovation and versatility, sound, biblical teaching and true commitment to God. Her personal mission is to be an example of the love of Christ, as well as an agent of change in the lives of those who are spiritually, emotionally, and economically disenfranchised through service to others and the teaching, preaching and singing of God’s Word.
Pastor Monica graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In response to her call to ministry, she went on to receive a Master of Divinity Degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated with honors. Currently, she is a Doctor of Ministry candidate in the African American Theology and Urban Ministry program at the San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California. Her dissertation project topic is “Somebody Oughtta Testify!”: Black Church Music as a Tool Towards a Holistic Approach to Evangelism.
Pastor Monica tremendously enjoys the arts. She received the Woodie Award for Outstanding Musical Performance (Female) for her portrayal of “Dorothy” in the St. Louis Black Repertory Company’s production of the hit musical, “The Wiz”. She wrote and produced the “7 Last Words of Jesus, The Musical” which chronicled Christ’s sojourn to the cross through the artistic mediums of drama, music, dance and spoken word. Pastor Monica has recorded and performed with some of the most prominent figures in the gospel music industry and has travelled internationally spreading the Gospel through music. In addition, she is the artist and co-producer of “All God’s Children,” a children’s playtime and lullaby CD comprised of African-American spirituals and hymns of the church.
A licensed and ordained minister, Pastor Monica has an extensive ministerial career proclaiming the Gospel as psalmist, teacher and preacher. She has served as a Worship Pastor, Minister of Music and/or Associate Minister at Community Mission Church (East St. Louis, Illinois); Zion Hill Baptist Church (Atlanta, Georgia); New Liberation Presbyterian Church (San Francisco, California); Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (Vallejo, California); and Irvington Presbyterian Church (Fremont, California). However, after many years of faithfully supporting and serving these congregations, God entrusted Pastor Monica to launch SafeHouse, a church where the wounded can be nurtured, restored and healed. The mission of SafeHouse is clear, concise and spiritually practical…to provide Safety for Families, Service to Community and to be Sincere in Worship. Pastor Monica is thrilled about the potential SafeHouse has to be a beacon of light and hope in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Pastor Monica is the proud and doting mother of Alexander and Kennedy, who are her absolute pride and joy.
